BSNL received Rs 7070 crore from BBNL for payment of BharatNet seller

Bharat Broadband Nigam Limited, a state-run infrastructure company that has set up an optical fiber network under the BharatNet project, has paid BSNL about Rs 7070 crore in advance to pay the interest of telecom companies to the vendors involved in the project.  An unnamed state-run telecom company requested BBNL earlier this month to pay vendors paid for the BharatNet project.
Bharat Broadband Corporation Limited (BBNL) allocated about 5% of the rural broadband network rollout work to BSNL.

Earlier this month, BSNL requested the BBNL to pay the pending liability of US East and MP circles for Tk16 billion.

Sandeep Agarwal, chairman of the Telecommunications Committee of the PhD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the payments released by BSNL will help thousands of dealers who have stopped working due to overpayment for more than 12 months.

Agarwal told BSNL CMD PK Eastwar in a letter dated December 26, 2019 that "all vendors still operating had a notice to declare NPAs to their NCLTs and their bankers."

He said that most sellers are getting paid for incentive invoices in December and some in March 2019.
